| 概要 | This study explores the integration of polarizing dyes—commonly used in LCDs and sunglasses—into yarns and textiles to evaluate their optical properties and potential clothing applications. High-temperature-resistant dyes enabled the creation of colored polyester yarns via melt spinning. Five monofilament yarn colors were produced and assessed for their polarizing properties, showing color changes depending on yarn alignment with a polarizer. Using a UV-Vis spectrophotometer with a polarizing film, a practical method to evaluate polarization degree was established. The yarns were compatible with embroidery machines, allowing unique optical effects and hidden images. Multifilament yarns were woven into textiles using a Jacquard loom, and these textiles displayed noticeable changes in light transmission and reflection with or without a polarizing film. The results indicate that polarized textiles could enable innovative uses in fashion and costume design. |
