概要 | In mathematics education, the question is what to teach and how to teach it. One way of thinking about this is to teach mathematics using real-life problems as the subject matter. Certainly, arithmetic can be taught using real-life problems as the subject matter. However, in the case of high school mathematics, there are few appropriate subjects. In this study, the Kermack-McKendrick model, which is well known among citizens for predicting the number of people infected with a new type of coronavirus, is considered for use as a teaching material in high school mathematics. To understand this model, knowledge of differential equations is necessary, but many high school students have not yet learned differential equations. Therefore, by substituting discrete variables for continuous variables, the possibility of developing teaching materials using only knowledge of sequences is suggested. |
