概要 | When introducing the correlation coefficient from covariance in high school textbooks, the textbooks explain that the covariance is divided by the product of the standard deviations. In contrast, Sasaki (2022) adopted a method of teaching that the covariance calculated from the obtained data is the correlation coefficient by first performing dimensionless quantification of data by standard deviation and proposed specific teaching materials. However, that method was a method to derive the relationship between covariance and correlation coefficient based on the assumption that the students had already learned covariance and correlation coefficient. Therefore, in this study, we discussed a teaching method to derive the correlation coefficient based on the assumption that the students have already learned the covariance. Furthermore, a new method of explaining the correlation coefficient in textbooks was proposed. |
